Teflon is very non-reactive, partly because of the strength of carbon-fluorine bonds, and so it is often used in pipework for reactive and corrosive chemicals. Where used as a lubricant, PTFE reduces friction, wear and energy consumption of machinery. In industrial applications, owning to its own friction is used for applications where sliding action of parts is needed, plain bearings, slide plates, etc. In these applications only a few chemicals react with it. Its mechanical properties are low compared to other engineering plastics, but its properties remain at a useful level over a great temperature range from 400* to 500*F (-240* to 260*C)

Teflon PTFE Rods has excellent thermal and electrical insulation properties; it has low coefficient of friction. It is difficult to make anything adhere to PTFE. A material sticks to it, but the material can be peeled off or rubber off.

Teflon PTFE Rods was the first fluorocarbon. It is the most chemically resistant plastic known, Mechanical properties can be improved by the addition of filters such as glass fibre, carbon, graphite, molybdenum disulphide and bronze.
